Berlin has recalled its ambassador to Georgia, Peter Fischer, for consultations. The decision, made by German Foreign Minister Johann Wadepoel, is intended to determine how to proceed, the ministry announced.

In the Russian Federation, the situation of immigrants from the North Caucasus has sharply worsened. They are often subjected to political persecution and torture, and become victims of kidnapping. Some of them, finding themselves in European countries, are perceived as a threat to society and are candidates for deportation or extradition to the Russian Federation, where they face torture and forced mobilization to participate in the war against Ukraine. This was reported by the human rights organization Amnesty International.
According to human rights activists, authorities in Croatia, France, Germany, Poland and Romania have previously deported natives of the North Caucasus who sought asylum. They were often accused of extremism or a threat to society.
Among the examples, the fate of Daud Muradov is considered. In February 2022, a Chechen refugee was sent from France to Russia despite the threat of torture. He died in a Chechen pre-trial detention center.
Later, Adam Muradov, Daud's uncle, died in Chechnya from a heart attack. As punishment for his wife's participation in an anti-war rally in Grozny, the authorities forced Adam to beat his wife, and their 18-year-old son Walid was sent to Ukraine to participate in the war.
