In Crimea, police officers issued human rights activist Abdureshit Dzhepparov a warning against violating the law. Law enforcement officials explained the document's origins in connection with the upcoming holiday on May 9th, but such actions typically occur shortly before the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Deportation of the Crimean Tatar People (May 18th).
The President of Georgia called cohesion with Europe a defense against Russian aggression
The best defense against Russian aggression is Georgia’s solidarity with the European Union and the country’s presence within the European community. Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili stated this in an interview with France24 English.
“The only red line that Russia respects is the line of the EU and NATO. That’s why my country, my people want this,” Zurabishvili shared.
The President of Georgia emphasized that the Constitution obliges her to do everything to speed up the country’s obtaining EU candidate status and contribute to the process of European integration. According to Zurabishvili, Georgia needs to introduce “national sanctions” against the Kremlin, despite the fact that no one has demanded this from it.
