The President of Nagorno-Karabakh and the Armenian Church called unacceptable the words of Pashinyan about the entry of the republic into Azerbaijan

The Supreme Spiritual Council of the Armenian Apostolic Church called on Yerevan to abandon defeatist thinking and destructive steps, to find reasonable and worthy solutions to overcome national challenges. Such a statement was released after the words of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan that Nagorno-Karabakh could become part of Azerbaijan.

“Nikol Pashinyan’s statements revealed the real content of the “peace agenda” presented to the public. The dangerous position of the authorities in the negotiation process on the fate of Nagorno-Karabakh and the border territories of Armenia is becoming obvious,” the spiritual council said.

The recognition of Nagorno-Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan is a red line. President of Nagorno-Karabakh Arayik Harutyunyan made the previously promised statement. “For us, any statements and documents that ignore the sovereignty of Nagorno-Karabakh, the right of our people to self-determination are unacceptable. The main reference point for Yerevan should be the will of the Karabakh people. Stepanakert is ready for dialogue with Baku in an international format, the settlement of the conflict based on the norms and principles of international law,” Harutyunyan said.
