The President of Turkey responded to the threat of deportation of Chechen refugees to Russia

About 30 Chechen refugees and oppositionists were placed in repatriation centers in Turkey, from where they could be deported to the Russian Federation. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan issued a statement about the “exceptionality of such a situation.”
Among others, Mansur Dudayev, the nephew of the first president of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria, Dzhokhar Dudayev, and his relatives were under threat of deportation for political reasons.

As lawyer Tugrul Kecheci noted, Chechens living in Turkey are going through difficult times due to Russia’s manipulative policies and it is difficult for them to realize their rights “because of Russian lies.” After Erdogan made a statement about the “exceptional situation” of the Chechens, Mansur Dudayev and his relatives were ordered to be released from the repatriation center.

Earlier, the Turkish media spread information about “plans for the deportation of Chechen refugees” to the Russian Federation. Opposition MP Selcuk Ozdağ called on the Turkish parliament to investigate these publications, promising to visit deportation centers.
