A resident of Dagestan sentenced to six years reported pressure and falsification of the case by security forces

The Fifth Court of Cassation in Pyatigorsk refused to overturn the verdict in the lawsuit filed by Makhachkala resident Shamil Idrisov. Previously, he was found guilty of illegal possession of a grenade and sentenced to six years. The man reported that a prohibited item was planted by employees of the Center for Specialized Execution of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

In court, Idrisov’s lawyer indicated that the grenade was planted during his arrest in February 2022 as revenge for his refusal to secretly cooperate with the Center for Special Operations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. In addition, the Makhachkala resident gave his initial testimony under physical and psychological pressure from the security forces.

Also, all judicial authorities did not take into account the results of the examination, which did not reveal any particles of metal origin on Idrisov’s hands and thereby confirmed that the grenade was planted on him. Despite these arguments, the court of cassation upheld the verdict.
