A case has been opened against a Tatar activist for the words “Russia oppresses other nations”

73-year-old veteran of the Tatar national movement Zinnur Agliullin was accused of repeated “incitement of hatred or enmity” (Article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). Previously, he was repeatedly fined under Article 20.3.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses on incitement of hatred or enmity due to criticism of the leadership of Tatarstan.
According to the investigation, an activist from Naberezhnye Chelny, former chairman of the All-Tatar Public Center Zinnur Agliullin said during his streams that Russians are “a people who understand only force,” and also compared life in Russia to prison. In addition, he stated that “Russia cannot be Russia if it does not oppress other nations.”
"If Russia had not sent Tatars, Chuvashes and other peoples to war in Ukraine instead of itself, it could not be Russia, it would be a different state. Therefore, as long as this state remains like this, nothing will change. Therefore, we have only one thing left to do - not to give up," he said.
In the 1990s, the All-Tatar Public Center demanded that Tatarstan be granted full sovereignty. In 2022, the center was recognized as an extremist organization and liquidated by decision of the Supreme Court of Tatarstan.
