One of three individuals detained in Tbilisi on charges of espionage was 27-year-old Tamaz Goloev (Goloti), a native of Akhalgori, a town in the territory of South Ossetia not controlled by Georgian authorities. This was reported by Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty's Georgian service.
A blind Muslim, Alexander Sizikov, has been detained again in Crimea. A nighttime search of his home, conducted by approximately 20 security officials, resulted in the seizure of his equipment.
A new criminal case has been opened against Sizikov. His arrest occurred after an appellate court overturned his release due to health reasons (total blindness and hypertension).
In 2023, Sizikov was sentenced to 17 years in prison for involvement with the Islamic party Hizb ut-Tahrir based on books found in his possession that he could not read. Hizb ut-Tahrir is designated a terrorist organization in Russia, but human rights activists consider this designation unlawful.
In May 2025, a court in Krasnoyarsk Krai released Alexander Sizikov. He will now stand trial again.
