Today, Azerbaijan celebrates the 34th anniversary of its restoration of state independence. On August 30, 1991, the Supreme Council of the Republic adopted the Declaration on the Restoration of Independence, and on October 18 of the same year, the Constitutional Act enshrining this status was adopted.
Russia Accuses the West of Attempting to Subjugate Armenia

The West is inciting Yerevan to break off relations with associations where Russia participates. This was stated by Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Galuzin.
“Through European observers, the West is seeking to gain a foothold in Armenia ‘on the ground’, dreaming of replacing Russia for the country,” Galuzin said.
According to him, the CSTO is the cornerstone of Armenia’s security, and the EAEU is the key to its economic well-being.
Galuzin also noted that Moscow is against hasty peace treaties between Yerevan and Baku. At the same time, according to him, such agreements are being forced by the West, which wants to push Armenia and Azerbaijan to conclude peace on one of its platforms as soon as possible. He added that hasty decisions may not lead to long-term sustainable peace, but rather lay the seeds of confrontation for the future.
In 2024, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced the freezing of the country's participation in the CSTO. In addition, Yerevan expressed a desire to get closer to the European Union, up to the possibility of becoming a candidate for membership.
