RIA Novosti: North Caucasus Federal District Regions Have the Lowest Mortgage Affordability

Mortgage affordability in the North Caucasus remains low. A rating compiled by RIA Novosti shows that less than 10% of families in most regions of the North Caucasus Federal District can afford a mortgage to purchase a 60 square meter apartment.

In Dagestan, this figure is only 3.7%, one of the lowest in the country. The situation is somewhat better in North Ossetia (6.1% of families), Karachay-Cherkessia (6.5%), Kabardino-Balkaria (6.6%), Ingushetia (6.9%), Chechnya (8.2%), and Stavropol Krai (9.4%).

By comparison, in the leading region, Yamal, 47.1% of families can afford a mortgage with the same terms. In second and third place are the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug and Chukotka: 44.3% and 42%, respectively.
