According to the Nalchik Garrison Military Court, serviceman Temirkan Bakhov was found guilty of failing to report for duty. He was sentenced to three years and six months in a general regime penal colony.
Vice Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Ruben Rubinyan confirmed that the negotiation process between Armenia and Turkey is ongoing. According to him, the last contact with Turkish Special Representative Serdar Kılıç took place the day before, but there is currently no new information on this issue.
Armenia and Turkey have not maintained diplomatic relations since 1991, and the land border has remained closed since 1993 at Ankara's initiative. Key unresolved issues include the process of international recognition of the Armenian Genocide and the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Despite this, direct cargo air services between the countries were introduced in 2023. Then, in September 2024, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan confirmed their readiness to continue normalizing relations. In 2025, the foreign ministers of the two countries held bilateral discussions, and their special representatives agreed to accelerate the implementation of agreements on opening the land border to third-country nationals and persons with diplomatic passports, as well as on developing railway, energy, and aviation projects.
