A devastating flood in Dagestan has resulted in massive landslides, affecting more than 6,000 people and 25 communities. The disaster destroyed several roads and damaged approximately 200 homes. More than 3,000 people in the Derbent and Tsumadinsky districts were left without gas due to damaged utility lines. The main causes of the disaster are believed to be abnormally heavy rainfall, which oversaturated the soil, as well as aggravating factors such as chaotic construction and worn-out utility lines.
Dagestani MMA fighter Erziman Bayramov has been charged with hooliganism following a conflict with a passerby in the city of Murino in the Leningrad Region.
The incident began with a reprimand directed at Bayramov for performing namaz in the street. The athlete reportedly used force against the man who made the reprimand. Members of the nationalist organization "Russian Community" arrived to assist the man.
Dagestan Public Monitoring Commission Chairman Shamil Khadulaev published a video of the conflict, filmed by Bayramov himself. The footage shows a split lip on the passerby, as well as bruises on both participants.
Bayramov claims his opponent approached him while he was praying in a parking lot and demanded he stop praying, citing a violation of the law "on missionary activity." The athlete also showed a knife that had fallen to the ground and speculated about the passerby's intentions.
A video filmed after its members arrived on the scene was published on the Telegram channel "Russian Community of Petrograd." In the video, they declare that "public prayer" is unacceptable in an "Orthodox state."
The Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case for hooliganism against Bayramov. According to the agency, he "beat a man for reprimanding him."
The far-right "Russian Community" emerged in 2020 and became active in 2024 amid anti-immigrant sentiment. It is known for its anti-migrant protests and xenophobia, and according to some reports, may be connected to Russian security forces.
