The largest overdue credit debt in Russia is among residents of the North Caucasus

The highest share of overdue credit debt in Russia as of March of this year was recorded among residents of Ingushetia (almost 21% of the total volume of loans). A high share of overdue debt was also found in Chechnya (9.4%), Dagestan (8.9%), North Ossetia (8.7%), Karachay-Cherkessia (7.7%) and Kabardino-Balkaria (6.2%). These regions took the last places in the RIA Novosti rating, compiled on the basis of official statistics.

The leaders of the rating were Sevastopol and Crimea. Only 1.7% and 2.2% of residents there, respectively, do not pay their loans on time. They are followed by St. Petersburg (2.7%), the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) (2.8%) and the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug (2.9%). The top ten countries with the lowest share of overdue loans also included the Nenets Autonomous Okrug (2.9%), Chuvashia (3.03%), Tatarstan (3.05%), Moscow (3.1%) and Chukotka (3.15%).

Experts expect retail lending growth rates to be low in 2025 due to high interest rates in the economy, while the number of overdue loans will continue to grow.
