The lowest salaries in Russia are recorded in the North Caucasus Federal District

The North Caucasus Federal District significantly lags behind the rest of Russia in terms of salary levels. According to a RIA Rating study, all seven regions in the district rank near the bottom of the rankings.

The lowest median salaries were recorded in Ingushetia (32,000 rubles) and Chechnya (31,800 rubles). These salaries were only 1.4 times higher than the cost of a fixed basket of goods and services.

In Kabardino-Balkaria and Dagestan, residents can afford 1.6 fixed baskets on average. In these republics, median salaries are 37,900 and 34,900 rubles. No region in the North Caucasus Federal District reaches the Russian average purchasing power of 2.6 fixed baskets.

The leaders of the rating were the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug (5.1), Chukotka Autonomous Okrug (4.3), Nenets Autonomous Okrug and Magadan Oblast (4 each) and Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug (3.8 sets).
