The lowest teacher salaries recorded in the North Caucasus

For nine months of 2023, the average salary of a school teacher in Ingushetia was 25.5 thousand rubles per month, in Karachay-Cherkessia - 27.3 thousand rubles, in Chechnya - 29.7 thousand rubles, in North Ossetia - 30.2 thousand rubles. These are the lowest figures in the Russian Federation according to Rosstat.

The salaries of teachers in Dagestan (32.1 thousand), Kabardino-Balkaria (33.1 thousand) and Stavropol Territory (36.3 thousand) are not much higher, with a national average salary of 53.6 thousand rubles.

According to official statistics, the northern regions and the capital traditionally lead. Thus, a school teacher in Chukotka earns on average 139.9 thousand rubles, in Yamal - 126.1 thousand rubles, in Moscow - 110 thousand rubles per month.

The 2026 World Press Freedom Index, published this morning by Reporters Without Borders (RSF), records the worst deterioration in global media freedom in 25 years. More than half of the world's countries rank the situation as "challenging" or "very challenging," and the average index level has never been lower.
