Six natives of the North Caucasus were sentenced to long terms on trumped-up charges

The Southern District Court found six natives of the North Caucasus republics guilty of promoting terrorism in correctional colony No. 2 in Kalmykia, where they had previously served time. The defendants deny guilt and call the case fabricated.

Marat Tulepov, Temurkaev A.S., Omar Omarov, Alim Thagalegov, Rustam Shebzukhov and Dzhamalov S.D. were sentenced to terms ranging from 5 to 8 years. According to the prosecution, the convicts were engaged in spreading the ideology of radical Islam and publicly justifying terrorism.

Previously, in the case of creating a “prison jamaat” in IK-2, the defendants were sentenced to terms of up to 24 years. They denied guilt and reported that there were no terrorist cells in the colony.
