Simonyan accused Russia of waging a hybrid war against Armenia

A hybrid war is being waged against Armenia, and it periodically intensifies. Russian experts with Armenian surnames are involved in it, they are trying to change the government, announce rallies. Chairman of the Armenian Parliament Alen Simonyan shared such conclusions at a briefing.

However, he does not see a threat of a coup, because he trusts the people. According to him, closer to the parliamentary elections in 2026, the rating of the ruling Civil Contract party will become higher.

“Not everyone likes Armenia’s independence. In their opinion, Armenia should always be dependent on some center, have an older brother and think that without a big brother or a superpower, it will be eaten, and it owes its existence to him,” Simonyan explained.

Recently, the Kremlin has persistently reminded Yerevan of the impossibility of simultaneous membership in the European Union and the EAEU. According to Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Galuzin, Armenia's decision to follow the path of European integration will entail a revision of the established economic relations that currently exist within the EAEU. Recently, Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan signed a law on the beginning of the process of the country's accession to the European Union. In early January, the law on Armenia's accession to the EU was approved by the country's government, and in late March - by the parliament. Let us also recall that, according to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, the adoption of the law does not mean the country's automatic accession to the European Union - the final decision can only be made in a referendum.
