Among the protesters detained in Batumi is the director of the Batumelebi Newspaper publishing group
Another series of detainees was held in Batumi last night during a large-scale protest march demanding new parliamentary elections. In total, more than 10 people were detained, some were released by the morning. Mziya Amaglobela, the founder and director of the Batumelebi Newspaper publishing group, which unites Batumelebi and Netgazeti, is among the remaining detainees.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that Amaglobela was detained for assaulting a police officer. The corresponding article of the Criminal Code provides from 4 to 7 years of imprisonment.

It is reported that during the night protest action
Amaglobela was detained twice. The first time was when she pasted stickers calling for a strike. She was released two hours later, and a few minutes later she was detained again.

Batumelebi writes that the director of the publishing group was visited by a representative of the People's Defender of Georgia, but the lawyer was not allowed to visit her. Mzya Amaglobela complained to the representative of the ombudsman about ill-treatment after her arrest.

"At the same time, Mzya Amaglobela told the representative of the People's Defender that when she was released after the first arrest, she got into a crowd and felt pain in her hand, because her hand was squeezed hard. To free her hand, she waved her hand and accidentally hit a policeman, who, as it turned out later, turned out to be the Batuma police chief. The police chief immediately detained Mzya Amaglobela," writes Batumelebi.

Rallies demanding new elections have been held in Georgia since the end of October. They erupted with new force in Tbilisi, Batumi, Kutaisi and other cities after the Georgian authorities announced the suspension of the country's European integration process until 2028.
