The United States warned Russia against interfering in the elections in Georgia

The United States is closely monitoring Russia's attempts to interfere in the upcoming parliamentary elections in Georgia in October. This was stated by the State Department.

“We have seen a number of Russian attempts, we have seen direct Russian interference in elections in the region and around the world, and we are closely monitoring them,” State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said.

According to him, only the Georgian people should decide the future of their country themselves.

The day before, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Federation Council Andrei Klimov said that his country is “ready” to help the ruling Georgian Dream party retain power if Tbilisi asks Moscow to do so.
