Supporters of persecuted journalist Nadezhda Kevorkova paid a fine for her

Journalist Nadezhda Kevorkova, who was held under arrest for more than a year on charges of exonerating the Taliban, paid a fine of 600,000 rubles with the help of her fellow citizens, according to the court's decision. At the same time, the day before, the Supreme Court of Russia decided to remove the Afghan movement from the list of terrorists.

Fundraising was conducted on social networks. The required amount was collected in less than a day.

"Thank you all very much! A fine of 600,000 has been paid. All that remains is for my mother to be removed from the list of terrorists. You are very cool, that you helped so promptly!" - wrote Kevorkova's son, journalist Vasyl Polonsky.

In March, the 2nd Western District Military Court in Moscow sentenced Nadezhda Kevorkova to a fine of 600,000 rubles in the case of justifying terrorism. The petition of the prosecutor, who asked for a sentence of 6 years imprisonment for the defendant, was rejected.

A criminal case was opened against Kevorkova because of two posts in the Telegram channel. The first is the publication of the old text of Orhan Jemal, who died in the Central African Republic, about one of the leaders of the "attack on Nalchik" in 2005. The second publication was allegedly devoted to the justification of the Taliban movement.

Nadezhda Kevorkova is an active volunteer of the "Solidarity" fund, helps seriously ill children and low-income people. The journalist repeatedly visited the Gaza Strip with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and covered the situation in the Middle East, worked in Iraq and Iran. In addition, Kevorkova is the author of three books about Palestine and numerous articles about religion.
