Epilepsy prisoner in Astrakhan colony sewed his mouth shut in protest

A native of Ingushetia, Abdul-Malik Albagachiev, who was serving time in the Astrakhan correctional colony No. 6, used the traditional way of protesting prisoners - sewing up his mouth. In this state, the man stayed for two days, after which he was taken out in an unknown direction. His whereabouts became known only 11 days later, Kavkaz.ru reports. Realities".

The reason for such an action was the failure to provide medical assistance during an epileptic seizure. In addition, the administration refused to send the prisoner's letters to the lawyer. Earlier, the relatives of the prisoner stated that the increased frequency of epilepsy attacks was the result of torture to which he was subjected by the security forces.

Irina Biryukova, representing the interests of Albagachiev, managed to find her client in IK-10 in the Astrakhan region, where he served his sentence before being transferred to colony No. 6. The lawyer said that today the situation is under the control of doctors. At the end of August, when Albagachiev had exacerbations, an ambulance doctor came to him.

According to the lawyer, as a result of her appeals, Abdul-Malik was visited by the prosecutor for the supervision of correctional institutions and a representative of the Ombudsman for the Astrakhan region. In addition, a procedural check will be organized on the fact of the use of force against a prisoner, in solidarity with whom Albagachiev practiced a hunger strike. It turned out to be a citizen of Ukraine Yaroslav Sereda. The convicts claim that it is citizenship that is the reason for the biased attitude towards it on the part of the administration of the colony.
