The court refused to include the results of a medical examination in the case of a prisoner from Ingushetia

In the Astrakhan Regional Court, the defense continues to seek the reversal of the decision to transfer prisoner from Ingushetia Abdul-Malik Albagachiev to prison. The court refused to include in the case the results of a forensic medical examination, which indicate that treatment in the colony is provided in the colony in an inappropriate manner and the convicted person, in principle, cannot serve his sentence in prison. This was reported by lawyer Irina Biryukova, who, with the support of the “Public Verdict,” represents the interests of Albagachiev.

“In the case materials there is only a doctor’s certificate stating that Abdul-Malik is receiving proper medical care, which is not true. And not only because there is an expert opinion that his health continues to deteriorate, but also because Abdul-Malik was forced to draw attention to the virtual absence of medicine in the colony through such a method as sewing up his mouth. Only after this did the Federal Penitentiary Service assign doctors to the colony. But for the court, apparently, this does not matter at all,” the defense lawyer shared.

Previously, the prosecutor's office of the Astrakhan region did not reveal any violations of the law in the actions of employees of IK-6, and the necessary medical assistance is being provided to prisoner Albagachiev. This was reported in the response from Biryukova’s department. She called such a check formal and biased and intends to appeal the refusal to initiate a criminal case.

A prisoner of the Astrakhan colony, a native of Ingushetia, Abdul-Malik Albagachiev, had previously sewn his mouth shut. The man remained in this condition for two days, after which he was taken to an unknown direction. The reason for the protest was the failure to provide him with medical care during an epileptic attack. Previously, the prisoner’s relatives stated that the increasing frequency of epileptic seizures was a consequence of the torture to which he was subjected by security forces. Abdul-Malik Albagachiev also suffers from headaches. Before his arrest, he was an absolutely healthy person.

The man was convicted in 2018. He was accused of participating in an illegal armed group in Syria. Confessions of guilt were extracted by torture. However, the prisoner never admitted guilt.
