Ingushetia court rules to transfer prisoner closer to home
The Magas City Court and the Supreme Court of Ingushetia have ruled that the Federal Penitentiary Service's decision to leave Zurab Didigov in Correctional Colony No. 6 in the Nizhny Novgorod Region, two thousand kilometers from home, is illegal. He will be transferred to another colony, closer to his family.

Earlier, the convict's wife, Madina Kushtova, asked the Federal Penitentiary Service to transfer her husband closer to home, to Colony No. 2 in the village of Chernokozovo in Chechnya. She is responsible for six children and Didigov's elderly parents, whom she cannot leave unattended, and traveling to visit him takes a lot of time and money. The Federal Penitentiary Service refused to grant her request.

However, the courts supported Kushtova's arguments, confirming that the inability to meet with his family is an exceptional circumstance and Didigov should be transferred to another colony. He was previously sentenced to 15 years on charges of attempting to blow up military convoys in North Ossetia in 2012. His lawyers and relatives have alleged that he was tortured.
