At today's hearing in the Visaitovsky Court of Grozny in the case of Nikita Zhuravel, accused of burning the Koran, the testimony of two witnesses was read out. One of them said that Zhuravel did not support SVO, being a native of Crimea, which was previously part of Ukraine. At the same time, Nikita never spoke about his plans to burn the Koran along with a video recording and distribute it on the Internet.
The store employee from whom Zhuravel allegedly bought the Koran noted that she could not identify him.
Earlier, the court completed the interrogation of the victims - 13 imams of mosques in Grozny. They declared the moral damage that Zhuravel caused to them and all Muslims with his act.
In May 2023, a student from Volgograd, Nikita Zhuravel, burned the Koran near the cathedral mosque. In Grozny he is being tried for publicly insulting the feelings of believers and hooliganism.
The defendant, beaten in August by the son of the head of Chechnya, Adam Kadyrov, partially admitted his guilt and apologized. Previously, his arrest was extended until April 20 this year.
