Over 400 suspects in Makhachkala airport riot case identified by surveillance cameras

During the investigation of the criminal case on the riots at Makhachkala airport, over 400 suspects were identified by surveillance cameras. This was announced by the Chairman of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin. According to him, a group of department employees had been reviewing the camera footage for several months.

The day before, the case of five more possible protest participants will be considered in Stavropol Krai. Rizvan Akhmedov, Ata Musayev, Magomed Mukhmayev, Khabib Sheikhov, Shanavaz Elmurzayev will appear in court. They are accused of participating in mass riots, failure to comply with transport safety requirements, and using violence against government officials.

The first defendants were sentenced on August 23. Anvarbek Atayev, Islam Ibragimov and Salik Ramazanov were sentenced to 6 years and 4 months in prison, Magomed Omaraskhabov - to 6.5 years, Rabadan Radzhabov - to 9 years. They did not admit their guilt.

Earlier, the Fifth Cassation Court changed the territorial jurisdiction for the accused. Instead of Dagestan, they are being tried in the Stavropol and Krasnodar Territories. At least 130 people are involved in the case. A number of Dagestan imams called for leniency and, if possible, not to punish the participants in the riots.

Recall that on October 29, 2023, hundreds of people broke into the Makhachkala airport, trying to find passengers on a transit flight from Tel Aviv. The crowd protested against Israel's actions in Palestine.
