European Union Foreign Policy Chief Kaja Kallas stated that the Georgian government's current policies are not aligned with the European Union's direction. Arriving at the EU summit in Brussels, she emphasized the EU's support for the Georgian people but expressed disagreement with the Georgian government's actions. Kallas stated that the country's leadership is leading Georgia "in the wrong direction," which is hindering the process of European integration.
39-year-old native of Chechnya Islam Albakov, who has been held in a deportation center in Belgium since 2019, is deteriorating in his health and is almost blind. This was stated by the head of the human rights organization “Women of the World for Peace on Earth” Fatima Gazieva.
According to Gazieva, over the years of being in the deportation prison, Albakov’s vision became much worse. In addition, he is not provided with adequate medical care.
The Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation is seeking the extradition of Islam Albakov, according to which he participated in a terrorist organization. In 2018, Islam and his brother Imran proved in a Belgian court that the charges brought against them were fabricated. However, the first of them was soon arrested, and the second is at large in France.
