Crimean Tatar activist's home searched

In Crimea, police officers searched the home museum of ancient weapons of the chairman of the Sudak regional Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, Ilver Ametov. He believes that he is being persecuted for his social activities and for his status as chairman of the regional Mejlis, which is banned in the Russian Federation.

After the search, security forces seized several iron objects for examination. In 2017 and 2019, Ilver Ametov was already searched and antique weapons were seized. In 2020, he was sentenced to eight months of restriction of freedom under the article on illegal possession of weapons, but later the sentence was sent for review.
