A Georgian citizen convicted in Abkhazia has a sharp deterioration in his health

The health condition of Georgian citizen Irakli Bebua, sentenced by the authorities to 9 years, has sharply deteriorated.

As the non-governmental organization Center for Social Justice notes, for almost four years Bebua has not been able to receive the necessary medical care, being in difficult conditions in detention. According to his family members, due to the fact that proper examination is not carried out, correct and adequate treatment cannot be prescribed. Irakli Bebua's condition is constantly deteriorating; he has severe pain in his head and back.

In 2020, a criminal case was opened against Irakli Bebua for setting fire to a canvas symbolizing the colors of the Abkhaz flag. He was sentenced to 9 years in prison.
