The Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) party adopted a resolution regarding the situation in Georgia at its congress in Vienna. Members of the political group urged the European Union to adopt a tougher stance toward the Georgian authorities and to step up sanctions.
A ceremony marking the 90th anniversary of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate (GIBDD) was held in Grozny, attended by Ramzan Kadyrov.
"Thanks to the high level of professionalism among the staff, the Chechen Republic has managed to reduce the number of traffic accidents and injuries by 40%, and fatalities by 50%, over the past five years. The regional directorate ranks among the top five in the country based on key accident-related metrics," the head of the republic said, praising the work of the local traffic police department, which is led by one of his nephews, Idris Cherkhigov.
Ramzan Kadyrov announced on his Telegram channel that he had awarded a number of officers from the Chechen Interior Ministry’s traffic police directorate with the Order of Akhmat-Khadzhi Kadyrov, the medals "For Services to the Chechen Republic" and "Defender of the Chechen Republic," as well as certificates of honor and letters of appreciation.
The honorees themselves, as might be expected, did not let the head of the republic leave empty-handed. According to Kadyrov, he was pleased to receive the commemorative "90 Years of the Russian Interior Ministry’s State Traffic Safety Inspectorate" medal. His son Adam received the same award.
Shortly before this, on May 31 of this year, the 18-year-old third son of the Chechen leader—who also serves as his advisor and secretary of the republic's Security Council—received the medal "For Contribution to the Special Military Operation."
