A member of the "SVO" from Vladikavkaz was sentenced to a penal colony for murder

The Southern District Military Court upheld the sentence of Aslan Salamov, a resident of Vladikavkaz who fought in the "SVO" zone. He received one and a half years in a penal colony for murder.

In November 2023, a male acquaintance invited Salamov to his home. Soon, the guest stabbed the owner of the house in the throat with a knife. In court, Salamov said that he allegedly attacked him first and began to beat him. After that, the criminal fled in a car, as he was pursued by the relatives of the murdered man.

When passing the sentence, the court considered Salamov's participation in the war against Ukraine, the award of the Zhukov medal, and a positive character reference from the command as mitigating circumstances.

Initially, Salamov was charged under the article on murder, according to which he faced 15 years in prison. It was then replaced with an article on murder committed in excess of self-defense. The family of the deceased tried to challenge the sentence as too lenient.
