On the morning of November 5, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that 496 Ukrainian drones had been neutralized overnight. According to the ministry’s summary, the drones were "intercepted and destroyed" over 14 Russian regions, occupied Crimea, and the waters of the Black and Azov Seas. The affected areas include the Astrakhan and Rostov regions, as well as Krasnodar Krai.
Rostov Governor Yury Slyusar stated on his Telegram channel that approximately 50 UAVs were destroyed overnight in four districts of the region: Verkhnedonskoy, Millerovsky, Sholokhovsky, and Chertkovsky. He noted that there have been no reports of casualties or damage resulting from the aerial attack.
According to the operational headquarters of Krasnodar Krai, drone fragments were discovered in the Temryuksky District. No injuries were reported. Additionally, in the settlement of Ilyich, debris from a UAV fell onto a parking lot, igniting an administrative building; the fire was promptly extinguished. In the stanitsa of Starotitarovskaya, the roof of a private residence was damaged.
Authorities in the Astrakhan region have not commented on the overnight attack.
One of the most significant consequences of the strikes on Russian territory was a fire at the Ryazan Oil Refinery, which supplies aviation fuel and diesel to the Russian military. Several monitoring-focused Telegram channels reported that the facility had been struck. According to Kyiv, Russian forces launched an attack overnight using two Kh-35 guided air-launched missiles and 128 strike and decoy drones (including Shahed, "Gerbera," and jet-powered UAVs). Ukrainian air defenses managed to shoot down or neutralize 105 of these enemy drones. Reports indicate strikes on energy and civilian infrastructure across various regions, resulting in deaths and injuries. Some of the aerial weapons were launched from Millerovo in the Rostov region, Primorsko-Akhtarsk in the Krasnodar region, and Gvardeyskoye in Crimea.
