A native of Chechnya was sentenced to 17 years in a fabricated case.

The 1st Eastern District Military Court in Khabarovsk sentenced Apti Visaev, a native of Chechnya, to 17 years in prison. He was found guilty of preparing a terrorist attack in Norilsk. The men's relatives claim that the charges are completely fabricated.

Let us remind you that Apti Visaev was detained in May 2021. He is accused of planning an explosion in Norilsk on the day of Victory Day celebrations. Later, he revealed the information of a secret witness who gave false testimony due to pressure from security forces. This witness then disappeared and left Russia.

Since the end of 2022, Visaev has been kept in a special unit of the Krasnoyarsk pre-trial detention center without explanation. Pressure on him was initiated by the investigation in order to achieve self-incrimination, his wife Aisha Mutaeva reported. According to the woman, her husband was subjected to inhumane treatment and was in danger. Visaev was later transferred to the Khabarovsk pre-trial detention center. There he reported on lawlessness. According to him, cell No. 364 of the pre-trial detention center is a torture chamber and the competent authorities must conduct an investigation into this issue.
