In Elektrostal, near Moscow, the funeral of 18-year-old Ilya Polezhaev, who died in a street fight with 19-year-old Tajik citizen Imomali Turdiev, was held under heavy police and Russian National Guard surveillance. The Elektrostal City Court that same day remanded Turdiev to two months' pretrial detention on murder charges. He will be held until March 18th, and faces up to 15 years in prison.
In Izhevsk, a native of Kyrgyzstan was sent to a pretrial detention center on charges of calling for terrorism. According to investigators, he called for an attempt on the life of the head of Dagestan on VKontakte.
The prosecution claims that the man arrested in 2022 posted a comment under a video in which the head of Dagestan, Sergei Melikov, criticized the actions in Derbent. There, people in cars called on all men over a loudspeaker to appear at the military registration and enlistment office as part of the mobilization.
“Are you fucking morons? Who authorized them? This is nothing more than the dissemination of fake information,” Melikov said at the time.
A user with the nickname Li-Alibek Alibek posted a comment under the video: “Shoot the damn thing, the devil is sitting there.”
