The body of Abakar Abakarov, the former co-founder of the Russian Congress of the Peoples of the Caucasus and the alleged owner of the "Utro Dagestan" Telegram channel, was found in a rented villa in Istanbul. Media reports indicate the cause of death was stab wounds, although this information has not yet been officially confirmed.

In pre-trial detention center No. 1 in Rostov-on-Don, Ainutdin Aliboriev from Dagestan, who had been held there for over three years, committed suicide. He was severely depressed due to the criminal case. The man was accused in the case of creating the terrorist community “Jamaat”. He was taken to doctors in Moscow, but was declared sane, after which he hanged himself in the isolation ward.
Earlier, in this criminal case, the Southern District Court found six natives of the North Caucasus republics guilty of promoting terrorism in correctional colony No. 2 in Kalmykia, where they were serving their sentences. They denied their guilt and called the materials fabricated. According to the prosecution, the convicts were engaged in spreading the ideology of radical Islam and publicly justifying terrorism, for which they received 5–8 years in prison.
Two more defendants were sentenced to up to 24 years. The accused denied guilt and claimed that there were no terrorist cells in the colony.
