"There have been no reports of casualties or damage on the ground. Further details are being clarified," the regional head added.
The Volgograd Region was also mentioned in the latest update from the Russian Ministry of Defense, though local authorities have not commented on the attack. Flight schedules at Volgograd Airport were disrupted this morning, with six flights canceled and four others delayed.
In total, according to the Ministry of Defense, 1,043 drones were "intercepted and destroyed" overnight.
Novokuibyshevsk, in the Samara Region, was at the epicenter of the strike. Monitoring channels reported that a fire broke out at an oil refinery as a result of the attack.
The Ukrainian side, meanwhile, claims that Russian forces used several missiles and 113 drones—including 83 jet-powered UAVs—in the overnight assault. There have been no reports of launches originating from testing grounds in the southern regions.
