In Maykop, a 16-year-old teenager carried a traffic police officer on the hood of his vehicle for several hundred meters while attempting to evade the police. The Investigative Committee of Adygea has initiated a criminal case against the minor for the use of violence against a representative of the authorities.
The incident occurred on October 23. Traffic police officers spotted a vehicle whose driver was committing serious traffic violations and ordered him to stop. When the pursuit began, the car slowed down briefly, but the driver refused to exit, keeping the doors locked.
One of the officers stepped in front of the vehicle to prevent it from driving away. The teenager accelerated, leaving the officer on the hood. The driver continued to move, maneuvering on the road, until the vehicle was finally brought to a stop. It was then discovered that the driver was a minor without a driver’s license.
According to Irina Volk, an official spokesperson for the Russian Interior Ministry, five administrative charges have been filed against the teenager. Investigators are currently establishing the circumstances of the incident and gathering evidence for the criminal case, which was opened under the statute concerning the use of violence against a representative of the authorities.
While Part 1 of Article 318 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation carries a potential sentence of up to five years in prison, special sentencing rules apply to minors. For the duration of the investigation, the teenager has been ordered not to leave his place of residence without permission and must comply with the terms of a written undertaking not to leave the area.
