A meeting of the National Anti-Terrorism Committee was held in Moscow, dedicated to countering the spread of terrorist ideology, neo-Nazism, and religious extremism in the North Caucasus Federal District.
Protests against expanding cooperation with Russia have flared up again in Abkhazia

Mass protests by the opposition and its supporters against the investment agreement with Russia continue in the capital of Abkhazia, Sukhum. The protesters gathered near the parliament threw stones and bottles at law enforcement officers. The security forces used tear gas to disperse the protesters. The demonstrators also rammed a car through metal barriers and broke into the parliament building.
Today, the parliament of the self-proclaimed republic of Abkhazia was supposed to consider the ratification of the agreement on investments from the Russian Federation. But the meeting was cancelled because the deputies were unable to approve its agenda. The opposition considers the ratification planned by the deputies a threat, since it undermines the economic sovereignty of the republic, opens the door to Russian oligarchs and legalizes the sale of apartments under the guise of multifunctional complexes.
Protests in Abkhazia first broke out on November 11 after the arrests of several opposition members who spoke out against the agreement with Russia.
