Armenia releases Russian citizen accused of desertion in his home country
In Yerevan, local police released Nikolai Zonov, who was detained in a criminal case of desertion in Russia. He was released without a preventive measure.
On March 12, Nikolai Zonov, a resident of the Kirov region, was detained at the passport office in Yerevan when he was applying for citizenship. At the same time, according to his wife, he did not serve in a Russian military unit, did not sign a summons, and the criminal case against him was opened after he moved to Armenia.
“In his statement, Nikolai directly indicated that he is against the war in Ukraine and is afraid to return. He wants to stay in Armenia and continue working here,” shared the Russian citizen’s wife, Averik Zonova.
