A rally in support of Vardanyan and other Karabakh leaders held in Baku was held in Armenia
A rally in support of Ruben Vardanyan and other captives and detainees in Baku was held in Yerevan near the Foreign Ministry building.

“The Foreign Ministry is responsible for Armenia’s foreign policy. We demand that the department invite all accredited diplomats and present them with illegal actions against Armenian captives in Baku, demanding significant steps in this direction,” the organizers of the rally read out their appeal.

Earlier, the Foreign Ministry called the trial of 23 Armenian prisoners of war and detainees in Baku a staging, pointing to gross procedural violations, signs of pressure and clear traces of torture against the detainees. According to the department, this is indicated by the published videos and photos from the trial, as well as statements by lawyers and the accused, including Ruben Vardanyan, who went on a hunger strike.

Earlier, a trial began in Baku against representatives of the leadership of the dissolved government of Nagorno-Karabakh. The lawyers filed a motion to change the preventive measure to house arrest. In the dock are the former state minister of Nagorno-Karabakh, former Russian citizen, billionaire Ruben Vardanyan and 15 other officials, including the former presidents of the unrecognized republic Arkady Ghukasyan, Bako Sahakyan and Arayik Harutyunyan.
