In Armenia, Russian security forces tried to detain a political emigrant
In Yerevan, Russian security forces burst into a police station where they had summoned activist Roman Shklover, who was wanted in the Russian Federation, to give an explanation. They began to persuade him to surrender and go with them, promising that “everything will be fine with him.” The activist refused.

Human rights activists call the actions of Russian security forces illegal and demand that a criminal case be opened.

“It turns out that Russian special services have free access to police stations in the Republic of Armenia, can freely meet with Russian citizens in the stations and call on them to voluntarily surrender to Russia. We strongly condemn the illegal actions of Russian law enforcement officials on the territory of a sovereign state, and we also urgently demand that law enforcement agencies of the Republic of Armenia immediately take measures to prevent such actions, as well as to initiate criminal prosecution against persons who have committed such illegal actions,” the Helsinki Civil Group said in a statement.

In October 2024, Shklover, who was included in the list of "terrorists and extremists" in the Russian Federation, was already detained in Armenia because he was wanted in Russia. However, he was released the next day. In 2022, the man was brought to administrative responsibility three times in Russia. Then a criminal case was opened against him under the article on justification of terrorism.
