Two more journalists were arrested in Azerbaijan

The police arrested for 15 days under the article “Minor Hooliganism” of the political observer of Jamnews Jamnews Shakhin Rzayev. Earlier, he periodically expressed criticism of the authorities of Azerbaijan and became known as a participant in civil society projects.

Gasimova rejected the accusations and stated that her persecution was due to the fact that after the arrests of her colleagues, she continued journalistic work, made filming for this publication.

Recently in Azerbaijan there have been repressions to independent journalists and activists. The director of the online publication Abzas Media Ulvi Hasanli, editor-in-chief Sevinj Vagifgyzy, journalists Nargiz Absalamov and Shamo Emin, as well as the activist Mohammed Kekalov, were arrested. They were accused of smuggling foreign currency. Numerous human rights and journalistic international organizations demanded their liberation.
