Azerbaijan condemns US State Department statement on human rights violations in Karabakh

The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry has criticized the statement by US Assistant Secretary of State Daphne Rand that "Washington continues to consider alleged violations of international humanitarian law and human rights in Karabakh." Rand made these remarks at the Warsaw Conference on the Human Dimension.

Azerbaijan noted that if the United States wants to demonstrate impartiality, it should demand an investigation into Armenia's crimes.

"It is interesting that, despite the mass killings of Azerbaijanis committed by Armenia during the occupation, the American side is only now referring to the importance of eliminating violations of international humanitarian law. For almost 30 years, these crimes by Armenia have been completely ignored by the United States. If the American side wants to demonstrate impartiality and a fair position, it must first demand an investigation into the numerous crimes committed by Armenia so that those responsible are held accountable before the law," Baku said.
