Turkey continues to strengthen Azerbaijan's defense capabilities, viewing it as a fraternal state and a key ally in the region. This was stated by Turkish Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler, who emphasized that cooperation is based on the principle of "one people, two states, one army."
Azerbaijan rejects information about torture of Karabakh prisoners
Azerbaijani Ombudsman Sabina Aliyeva visited the former leaders of Nagorno-Karabakh in the pretrial detention center of the State Security Service. She received and listened to Ruben Vardanyan, Arayik Harutyunyan, Arkady Ghukasyan, Bako Sahakyan, David Babayan and other prisoners, who are called "Karabakh separatists" in Baku.
According to the Ombudsman's office, all prisoners noted the absence of discrimination and infringement of their rights, as well as normal conditions of detention and the level of medical care. Later, the Azerbaijani authorities distributed photographs of those arrested, including Vardanyan.
Earlier, the Armenian Foreign Ministry called the trial of 23 Armenian prisoners of war and detainees in Baku a staged affair, pointing to gross procedural violations, signs of pressure and clear traces of torture against the detainees. According to the department, this is indicated by the published videos and photos from the trial, as well as statements by lawyers and the accused.
Recently, a trial began in Baku over representatives of the leadership of the dissolved government of Nagorno-Karabakh. In the dock were the former state minister of Nagorno-Karabakh, ex-citizen of the Russian Federation, billionaire Ruben Vardanyan and 15 other officials.
