The British Embassy in Georgia responded to Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze's statement that London should apologize for a "fake" spread by the BBC. Political prisoner Bakhtiyar Hajiyev left under arrest in Azerbaijan
The Baku Court of Appeal rejected the complaint of public activist Bakhtiyar Hajiyev against the refusal to transfer him to house arrest. According to the defense, no investigative actions are being taken against Gadzhiev and his detention is unreasonable. The lawyer also pointed to the health problems of the client, which became the result of his long hunger strike.
Bakhtiyar Hajiyev was arrested on December 9 last year on charges of hooliganism and contempt of court. He fasted for over 50 days.
Representatives of the US State Department, the European Union, the Council of Europe and a number of international NGOs have repeatedly demanded the release of Hajiyev from prison.
