The head of the Chechen Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, announced his readiness to participate in the upcoming elections for the head of the region, subject to the support of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
June 6, 7 and 8, 2025 will be non-working days in Chechnya in honor of the holiday of Eid al-Adha (Eid al-Adha). This is stated in the decree of the head of the republic.
In fact, only one day off has been added - Friday - since the 7th and 8th fall on Saturday and Sunday. Earlier, the heads of Dagestan and Karachay-Cherkessia also declared June 6 a non-working day.
Eid al-Adha is one of the two main Muslim holidays, which is celebrated 70 days after Eid al-Fitr. It marks the end of the Hajj - a pilgrimage to Mecca, which is considered one of the "pillars of faith" in Islam.
The main meaning of the celebration is to remind all Muslims of man's devotion to God and His mercy. The history of the holiday refers to the Koran (the holy book of Muslims), in particular to the surah (chapter) that describes the attempt of the prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son.
