Over 3,000 homes damaged by flooding in Chechnya

Preliminary results of the flooding that occurred in late March 2026 have been released in Chechnya. According to current data, the disaster affected over 3,000 homes, over 100 of which were completely destroyed.

According to Chechen Construction Minister Muslim Zaipullaev following a meeting with Federal Construction Minister Irek Faizullin, 219 homes were damaged in the Vedensky District alone. A total of 28 settlements in the republic were affected.

The consequences of the flood, one of the most devastating in recent memory in the North Caucasus, were felt most severely by residents of Dagestan and Chechnya. Nearly 1,500 homes were flooded in Dagestan. Personal property and vehicles were also damaged. In Makhachkala, problems with utilities and communications were reported. More than 3,000 rescuers and more than 800 units of RSChS equipment have been deployed to eliminate the consequences of the emergency in both republics.
