During the annual "Year in Review" press conference, Russian President Vladimir Putin, responding to a question about support for young families, noted the tradition of early marriages in the North Caucasus. He said he believed this was "right" and suggested "following their example," citing Ramzan Kadyrov's large family.
A court in Makhachkala arrested blogger Khadzhimurad Khanov for two months. Before this, the head of Dagestan, Sergei Melikov, criticized him and promised him consequences due to a recent incident involving him.
Earlier, Khadzhimurad Khanov publicly demanded an apology from a doctor from Khasavyurt after a story with a patient in a niqab. At the reception, the doctor asked a woman in closed Muslim clothing to undress, to which she refused. The story became public, and threats and insults were showered on the doctor.
Officially, Khanov was arrested in a criminal case for illegal possession of weapons. Before his arrest, he recorded a video in which he stated a possible provocation. The man connected what was happening with his criticism of the doctor from Khasavyurt. At the same time, he noted that he wanted to eliminate the conflict on national and religious grounds as much as possible.
