Former employee of the Sovetsky District Department of Internal Affairs of Makhachkala Islam Atavov was found guilty of abuse of power and sentenced to 7.5 years in prison. He participated in the torture of a local resident, Kurban Dalgatov.
Recall that a resident of Makhachkala, Kurban Dalgatov, was killed at the end of January last year in the Sovetsky District Department of Internal Affairs of Makhachkala. According to the official indictment, Dalgatov died as a result of torture. He was beaten with his hands and feet, and electric shock was applied. He was taken to the police station as a witness to a shooting between two city residents.
A total of 13 police officers are involved in the case. Most of them were placed in pretrial detention. 35-year-old Kurban Dalgatov was married, raised a son and a daughter, and worked as a children's freestyle wrestling coach.
