The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has published a report alleging that Georgian authorities used chemical weapons during the suppression of pro-European protests in Tbilisi in 2024. The chemical weapon in question is bromobenzyl cyanide, a chemical warfare agent dating back to World War I, also known as "kamit."
Economic indicators have fallen sharply in Dagestan and North Ossetia
According to a report from the Accounts Chamber, the industrial production index declined in 38 Russian regions in the first six months of this year, but the most significant decline occurred in two republics of the North Caucasus. Dagestan recorded a 16% decline, while North Ossetia saw a 21.8% decline.
If current indicators persist in the second half of the year, the decline in Dagestan could significantly exceed its growth in 2024. According to Nizam Khalilov, the republic's Minister of Industry and Trade, growth in 2024 will be 6.5%.
The situation in North Ossetia is even more complex: according to Rosstat, the industrial production index remained virtually unchanged for last year, declining within the margin of error.
