Rescuers have recovered the body of a 13-year-old boy who drowned in the Caspian Sea in the Karabudakhkentsky District of Dagestan. The regional branch of the Russian Emergencies Ministry (EMERCOM) announced the news on the evening of August 7.
The tragedy occurred the previous day near the "Akter" recreation center. The teenager, born in 2012 and a resident of the village of Kaka-Shura, went missing while spending time at the seaside. Following a report of the incident, rescuers from the Karabudakhkentsky search-and-rescue unit and inspectors from the State Inspectorate for Small Vessels (GIMS) were dispatched to the scene.
The search lasted nearly two days. On the evening of August 6, the active phase of the operation was suspended due to darkness, though rescuers continued to monitor the coastal area. The search operation resumed on the morning of August 7. Twelve rescuers—including three divers—and GIMS inspectors took part in the effort, utilizing motorboats, specialized equipment, and an ATV.
According to the regional EMERCOM office, the teenager's body was discovered at a depth of 3–4 meters around 6:00 PM. It was recovered from the water and handed over to law enforcement officials.
The agency added that the search-and-rescue operation concluded following the recovery.
