In Dagestan, at least 17 people were arrested as participants in the riots at Makhachkala airport

The Soviet District Court of Makhachkala arrested at least 17 people for their participation in anti-Semitic riots at the local airport. The Supreme Court of Dagestan received complaints against these decisions.

To date, the names of two arrested defendants are known. This is Patimat Sharutdinova, who was holding a Palestinian flag in her hands and chanting slogans, and Gadzhi Imanmurzaev, who walked around the airport with a megaphone.

Previously, over 330 cases were sent to the courts of Dagestan under administrative articles regarding violation of the procedure for holding public events and hooliganism. The defendants were sentenced to punishments ranging from fines of 10 thousand rubles or more to arrest for a period of 10 days. Most of those arrested did not admit their guilt, claiming that they happened to be at the site of the protests. Others said they came to participate to express solidarity with the Palestinian people.

On October 29, a crowd of activists broke onto the runway of Makhachkala airport after the arrival of a flight from Tel Aviv. It was reported that the protesters were looking for Israeli citizens who had flown in as part of a response to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
